September Third Anno Domini One Thousand Six Hundred & Sixtie Two
In the name of God Amen ~ I Anthonie Garrett of Buntingford in the parish of Aspeden in the Countie of Hertford yeoman being weake in bodie but of perfect memorie praised be God I doe make and ordaine my last Will and Testament the year and daye above written in forme and manner following
First I bequeath my soule into the hands of God hoping to find mercy through my Saviour Jesus Christ My bodie to be decently buried at the discretion of my Executrix hereafter mentioned And for that portion of Worldly Goods which the Lord hath intrusted mee with I thus dispose of them
Item I give and bequeath unto my daughter Elizabeth the house and Appurtentantes where Widow Ferris and Christopher Bateman now dwells
Item I give unto her the same daughter Elizabeth Three halfe Acres of meadowe lying in Rea(?) Meand(?) in the parish of Aspeden and my will is that she shall enter upon these premises at the compleate age of eighteene years or the day of marriage if she shall so long live
Item I give and bequeath unto my sonne in Law Henry Battesford all that tenement with the appurtenances ^now^ in the tenure and occupation of William Cole which was given me by my loving Uncle Lewis Crowder
Item all the rest of my goods and chattels and free lands unbequeathed my debts and funeral charges paid I give and bequeath unto my loving wife Lettice whome I make my sole executrix of this my last will and testament unto which I sett my hand and seale the day and yeare above written:
