under the Chancel of this Church. With undaunted fortitude, mingled with pious resignation, she bore her unparalleled sufferings. Death, terrible only to the guilty, to her unlocked the gates of Paradise, Also, the above William Butt, Esq. died 17th March, 1806 aged 69 years.

Neare hereunto lyeth the body of Mr. William Statholme, Doctoure of Physick, a person stu¬dious, and of exemplary temperance and sobriety, charitable to his poor neighbours and courteous to strangers, conscientious and wary in his profession, of whose expert skill wherein his book, De Febribus (multum in parvo), is no small witnesse.

At his feet lie his three children, viz.

John Lennock, an ingenious lovely pious youth, a hopefull blossome, cropt off in the 17th yeare of his age, anno Dom. 1662.

Susannah, an infant, who died within the moneth.

Sarah, a virgine, beautifull of countenance, but of a more beautifull soule, who at 12 years of age was soe compassionately sensible of her father’s consumptive sicknesse, that for griefe she dyed with him, over whose hearse himself half dead, wept out this divine farewell:

Adieu, sweet lamb! I snail follow thee with a confident pace thro' the gates of death to eternity; and soon after he fulfilled his word, July 24th, 1665. In pious memory of all whom Mrs. Anne Statholme, as a loving wife and tender mother, hath erected this due memorial. Thus daily sighing:

Dear husband and sweet children, rest in peace
Till I, to live with you again, decease;
Whereof us together shall enjoy
Such glory as no malice can annoy.
Mihi mors medicina malorum.

Sacred to the memory of Edward Saunders, Esq. late of Little Court, in this parish, who died January the 4th, 1800, aged 55 years, shortly after his return from India, where be resided upwards of thirty years, with unimpeached integrity. Earth's highest station ends in where he lies; and dust to dust concludes her noblest song.

On a tablet at the West end of the Church :

Below lies the body of Richard Corderly, a most worthy tho' unprefer'ed Clergyman of the Church of England, who died after adorning the humble yet glorious station of a faithfull Curate for near 30 years. His great abilities, cultivated and improved by much study and application, eminently fitted him for the due discharge of his sacred functions, as well as the management of all secular business. He was seized with a paralytic attack, in the administration of baptism, on Sunday the 16th, and died the 24th of February, 1772, aged 53.
